I guess this is the time I make a reflective post, or something?
I just graduated from MIAD, finished up my capstone project, had an amazing exhibition, and in a little over a week I’m starting my internship (home goods design at Kohls!) and venturing out into the wild blue yonder of adulthood and full time employment.

The second half of my senior capstone project! Titled Spectrum, I illustrated the personality of 12 colors in the ROYGBV color spectrum. I wanted to also speak to female confidence, and filter the personalities depicted through a still very positive depiction of women and to promote diversity in the fashion world.

Societal expectations of sex don’t make any sense
If dudes are expected to have a lot of sex
But ladies are expected to stay virgins until marriage
But homosexuality is bad
I’m really confused who dudes are supposed to be having all that sex with

“It’s not baby-sitting when Daddy does it. Who wouldn’t agree with that? The U.S. Census Bureau, apparently. When both parents are present in the household, the Census Bureau assumes for the purposes of its “Who’s Minding the Kids?” report, that the mother is the “designated parent.” And when the designated parent is working or at school, the bureau would like to know who’s providing child care.
If the answer is Daddy, as it was 26 percent of the time when these numbers were last released, in 2005, and 32 percent of the time in 2010, the Census Bureau calls that “care.” But if Mom is caring for a child while Dad’s at work, that’s not a “child care arrangement,” but something else. Parenting, presumably.”

Kinda reminds me how there was this huge problem when I was younger, after my parents divorced, where a health office treating my brother wrote down my mother’s address incorrectly, so the bill was being repeatedly mailed to an address that did not exist, and eventually my mother’s credit was destroyed because they sent a debt collector after her. You know, instead of calling her up and asking her to pay the bill.
My mother asked why they did not once try to contact my father—who had 50% custody, and who was listed CORRECTLY in the file, as well as whose insurance my brother was under. The clerk said, in so many words, that “fathers don’t handle this sort of work for their children.”
Sometimes I think we live in a stupid world.
